Description

PHINUG honors women this month in our latest event!

The Philippine .NET Users Group (PHINUG), Provoke Solutions, Microsoft Philippines, and Globe Labs presents another installment of MSDN Sessions, a monthly series of weekday after-office hours talks for software development professionals and enthusiasts of Microsoft developer technologies.

The event will be held on will be held on March 26, 2015, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Globe Telepark Valero, which could be found at Valero St. (near VA Rufino), Makati City.

PHINUG lead Jon Limjap, Microsoft MVP for .NET, would open the evening with a short keynote on The Role of Women in Computer Science and IT. He promises to keep it short because he's not a woman.

Our main speakers would be two ladies who have contributed greatly to the local IT community and industry:

  • Reinabelle Reyes, Data Scientist for Voyager Innovations, Inc., will be speaking about Big Data and Data Science. Reinabelle's perspective on big data and the mathematics behind it was born from the stars -- she got her PhD in Astrophysics from Princeton University. With big data generated by earthlings on the web becoming more and more relevant in everyday computing, she'll help us pin these concepts down back to earth.

  • Cherrie Ann Domingo, President of the PHP Users Group (PHPUG), and long-time member of the Philippine SQL Server Users Group (PHISSUG), will talk to us about a topic that has been bugging more and more people lately: NoSQL vs. SQL. Should you go with one? Should you go with the other? Is one inherently better than the other? CheAnn would show the way!

Food and drinks will be served at the event.

See you there!
